WILL YOU MARRY ME with Ada Ezeka
Text: Proverbs 19:16
“…But he who is careless of his ways shall die.”
The choices and decisions you make in the days of your youth shape your future and the rest of your life.
As a youth, one thing you must never be careless about is your relationships…
Whether it’s your relationship with your father, mother, siblings, schoolmates, peer group, etc
But more especially, your relationship with the opposite sex…Yes!
Because it will determine who you end up with in marriage…
And marriage and family life are going to be the most important aspect of your future…
Carelessness with any of your relationships as a youth, can irreparably damage your future…
So you see yourself living the rest of your life regretting, or trying to correct or make up for the wrong choices and decisions you made in the days of your youth…eg Amnon (2 Samuel 13);
Let’s read Genesis 34:1-3
“One day Dinah, the daughter of Jacob and Leah, went to visit some of the young women who lived in the area.
But when the local prince, Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, saw Dinah, he seized her and raped her.
But then he fell in love with her, and he tried to win her affection with tender words.
He said to his father, Hamor, “Get me this young girl. I want to marry her.”
Can you imagine? After he had raped her…Is that the time to now ask, “Will You Marry Me?”
That’s why it’s important for you to submit yourself to teachings, training and counsels that will equip you with the wisdom you need to make wise decisions and choices – Isaiah 33:6.
Let’s read Proverbs 1:1-4 – MSG
“These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David’s son, Israel’s king –
Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going;
A manual for living, for learning what’s right and just and fair;
To teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality.”
Verse 6 says,
“Start with God – the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.”
The sons of Eli, for instance, had no regards for God’s ways…so they continued to make careless choices and decisions that hurt God, his people, their destinies and that of their whole family…
1 Samuel 2:12
“Eli’s own sons were a bad lot. They didn’t know God and could not have cared less.”
Did you see that?
Verse 22 says,
“By this time Eli was very old. He kept getting reports on how his sons were ripping off the people and sleeping with the women who helped out at the sanctuary.”
Let’s also read verses 28- 34…MSG
