Text: 1 Kings 11:1
“Now King Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides Pharaoh’s daughter, he married women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Sidon, and from among the Hittites.”
You see, satan will always present to you more than God has given you…more than God allows for you…
So, you need to be sensitive to know God’s will for you…
To know what is outside God’s will for you…
To know what does not in any way agree with God’s will and ways of operation.
God wants more than enough for you, Yes! But you must be spiritually sensitive enough to know where the “ more than enough” is coming from.
Proverbs 10:22 says,
“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich,
and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
Whatever adds sorrow, pressure and unnecessary stress, distraction and less time for God and church to your blessing, is certainly not of God!
Yes, it’s increase…it’s addition…it’s multiplication! But who and where is it from?
Yes, it’s available…it’s cheap…it looks good! But is it from God? Does God want you to have it?
Remember Eve? Genesis 3:6 says,
“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”
And that’s how the whole of humanity became satan’s slaves…until Jesus came and freed us all – by his death, his burial and his resurrection from the dead – 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
Verse 2 of our text says,
“The lord had clearly instructed the people of Israel, “You must not marry them, because they will turn your hearts to their gods.” Yet Solomon insisted on loving them anyway.”
Verse 4 says,
“For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.”
May you not insist on what will turn God’s blessing in your life to a curse…or what will turn your heart away from God!
We are in very dangerous days when the devil is taking advantage of pressing needs in our lives and families, to present alternatives that belly the destructive end that comes with it.
So, again I say, “Beware!”
This is my prayer for you,
“…I ask – ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory –
to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally,
your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for Christians.” (Ephesians 1:17-18 – MSG)…In Jesus precious name!
