A BOY? OR A GIRL?

FAMILY LIFE UNIVERSITY

BOY? OR GIRL?

Usually, when people hear the news of a woman’s delivery (after nine months of carefully, prayerfully and faithfully carrying that child in her womb)…

The next thing they ask (anxiously…for many husbands and mothers-in-law, especially) is, “Is it a boy or a girl?

That then determines the level and quality of their rejoicing, dancing and thanksgiving!

If it’s a boy (and that’s all they have been bombarding God with prayers and vows for)…

Then, they judge God a good, just and faithful God, worthy of all their praise and…and a lavish thanksgiving offering, service and reception after…( sometimes in an expensive hotel or event center)!

I have heard of husbands who left their wives in the hospital at the news of a baby girl…”Again?”, they lament with disappointment and anger at God, and especially their wives!

Oh, how merciful God is! How wonderful that He’s not a man!

Some have “enough” boys now…they just want a baby girl…

So, if it’s a girl…a loud shout of praise and thanksgiving is head…and a big party follows with the naming and dedication!

BUT YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS…

From my study of the scriptures…I’ve come to a spiritual understanding of why and how babies come as either male or female…

That it is God that gives either a male or female body to the seed the man plants in his wife’s womb…not our prayers, not an issue of ovulation, or chromosomes (according to science)…

Look at 1 Corinthians 15:37-38…

“When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed (the man’s sperm is the seed that becomes a human being in his wife’s womb) perhaps of wheat or of something else ( male or female).

But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.” NIV

And it is the purpose he has ordained the child to be born for, that determines whether the child comes into this world as a boy or a girl child. Yes!

Look at Jeremiah 1:4-5

“The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” NIV

When we understand this, we will just rest in him, and be prepared to receive the precious gift and blessing of a healthy, perfectly formed child…with joy and thanksgiving…

And then we pray and trust him for safe delivery of the child…

Trusting him, also, for the grace, wisdom and provisions to raise and empower that child (whether boy or girl) to fulfill divine purpose!

I pray that God gives you understanding…and the humility of heart to repent, if your heart has not been right concerning this matter…in Jesus mighty name!

WORD FOR TODAY

NOT FOR SELFISH REASONS!

Text: Esther 1-10

Your life could change forever, you know? Oh yes!

We read in Esther 2:17…

“And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.”

You see, the most remarkable thing about Esther’s one night with the king, was not her change of story…or her becoming queen…but the revolution that her becoming queen brought in the nation!

That should let you know that what you become in God…is primarily for others to become what God wants for them.

When you become who God has programmed for you to be in life…somebody else’s story/status is about to change…Yes!

We are changed, or made, so that we can be used of God to make others…to change other people’s circumstances…

Look at it in Genesis 12:2-3…

“I’ll make you a great nation and bless you. I’ll make you famous; you’ll be a blessing. I’ll bless those who bless you; those who curse you I’ll curse. All the families of the Earth will be blessed through you.” MSG

And in Christ,God has made you all that he has created you to be…Philemon 1:6…He couldn’t have left that to the world…or your education…No way!

Let’s also read Luke 2:34:

“And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel…”

WHEN YOUR STORY CHANGES…

Esther’s change of story turned out to be for the rising of Mordecai (her uncle who raised her)…

It turned out to be a change of story for the Jews…whom Haman had put all machinery in place to wipe out…

And it also turned out to be the falling of Haman…and all the enemies of the Jews (God’s people)!

YOUR STORY MUST CHANGE!

So you see…your story must change…to fit your perfect image and personality in Christ…Colossians 1:27; Colossians 2:9-10.

You are useless to God in that miserable and mediocre state that you are in…just managing life!

No! Your story can change!

Your story must change!

Your story just has to change! Yes!

There is something you must become…There’s a position you must rise to…for the rising…and of course, for the falling of many! Yes!

NOT FOR SELFISH REASONS!

#Can you imagine? Just one young girl’s (Esther’s) change of story sparked off an unimaginable revolution in a whole nation…(God and his people took over…and began to decree and determine what happened in the nation)!

The king became a mere instrument of authorizing God’s decrees in the land…

Just because of one beautiful girl whose story changed…A slave girl! An orphan! A nobody! But her story changed!

And suddenly, she became so influential! She had power with God…she had power with men!

And she didn’t use her influence for selfish reasons…or to oppress and take advantage of others…No!

And God was able to use her to make life better for others…Alleluia!

What I’m I saying here? God’s goodness…God’s visitations in your life, at any time, is not just for you…

Beloved, when God remembers you…remember others!

When God turns your captivity…allow him to use you to turn other people’s captivity!

When God changes your story…allow him to use you to change other people’s story!

When God has lifted you…allow him to use you to lift others…not to oppress or destroy them! Okay?

(Can you imagine? I have tears in my eyes writing this…Thank you Jesus!).
